Depending on your budget, I would recommend Nordstroms- I’m a plus size and have had luck there

Generally I would say stay away from the typical fat-lady sack dress or anything with lots of layers or a big, long, flowy jacket.  The more loose fabric there is, the bigger she will look.  It’s a mistake a lot of women make to try and ‘hide’ their fat.  I find that it backfires and you are best to choose something that accentuates the positive.

I have most luck with A-line dresses and empire waists.  However, my sister (also plus sized) has more of an hourglass and can pull off more princess-style silhouettes.

Styles that I think are flattering for most plus sized women (all from here- http://shop.nordstrom.com/C/6005557/0~2376776~2374327~6005464~6005515~6005557?origin=leftnav and here- http://shop.nordstrom.com/C/6007112/0~2376776~2374327~6007059~6007112?origin=6016058_Select+a+Category6016058):

D’oh! Sarakat- I posted a bunch of photos and links but as usual that SPAM FILTER foiled my attempts to be helpful!

Here’s what I said without the pictures (hopefully the spam filter will clear them):

Tadashi makes plus-size gowns and I think they have a ton of flattering styles. You have to order them special and they need about 10 weeks lead time, I think, but it’s worth it to be happy with what you have to wear, IMO.

tadashicollection.com You have to call the 1-800 number to order them, you can’t do it online.

Also, try Barrie Pace online, that’s where I got my Tadashi dress on sale for $140!

Have her get one of the full body shaper things too. My mom has a tumor on her back that sticks out and makes her look like a hunchback (her words, not mine!). We got one of those shaper things for her, and she wears it with all her dresses and it looks really good! (It also sucks in her tummy, which she likes!)

So sorry ladies- I followed the links I posted earlier today and it’s not there.  A search of Nordstroms turned up nothing.  I have no idea where it went.  Maybe it sold out?
