Get him to shave more often?

This used to happen to me too, but it got better on its own. He tried using moisturizer on his face every day in an attempt to soften the stubble, but it never seemed to do the trick. Over time, my face got used to it and now it doesn’t peel. Stick in there!  In the meantime, I’d suggest exfoliating once a week (so there’s less skin to peel), and he can always try the moisturizer route to see if that softens his hair at all.

@strawbabies: Not sure about the OP, but my guy shaves every day, sometimes twice. About 3 hours after he shaves, his stubble is pretty scratchy.

Have you told him how bad it is? Just ask him to shave more! If he will at least shave right around his mouth it will help a lot! My husband is willing to take time and accomodate me when it makes “together time” more pleasant Smile

Have him try to condition his facial fair while in the shower. Let it sit on his face while he washes up. It may help soften it. Good luck!

I would seriously consider getting him to change up his razor. Fiance used to complain constantly about how he hated shaving and always had razor burn blah blah blah.

I bought him a “safety razor.” They’re a little old-timey, but you basically buy razor blades and screw them into the handle. The actual handle part that holds the razor is a slightly more expensive initial investment, but the blades are super cheap and you’ll actually be saving money in the long run.

Also, I would suggest springing for some nicer shaving products if you can work it into your budget. A safety razor with the proper products gives you a “wet shave,” and if you use the oils and creams right it really works well.

It will take him a little practice to get used to the new razor, but Fiance swears he will never go back to using cartridges. Let me know if you want more info and I’ll send you some links on what I bought him.

@RoyalLime: bingo- back when my SO had a beard (he wanted to see how it would look) I got him into the habit of using conditioner on his face it helps allot.

OP- this may be a bit much, but I’ve told my SO a few times, if he doesn’t shave, I don’t shave.  I usally refuse to kiss him when he’s super stubbly, my face gets really raw easily, and its a pain. Make sure he has a good razor and shaving cream- although my BIL uses.. lube to shave with. Really, he says astroglide is the best- I tried it with my legs once, and it was a really close shave, but seems like a bad idea to do in the shower!
