- Wedding: October 2010
Fiance really wants to have a saxaphone player for the cocktail hour. Since he hasn’t really wanted anything strongly so far in wedding planning, he is definitely getting this request. We have a DJ for the reception. My issue is the music for the ceremony, which is at a church and 2 hours before the cokctail hour starts (we anticipate about an hour gap between the ceremony ending and cocktail hour beginning). It would be wonderful if the sax player could play at the ceremony too, because we would only have to deal with one person, and hopefully could get some kind of deal. Here is my question though. How would a sax player be in a church? I have always thought of strings as being church-appropriate, I have no idea how a solo sax player would sound in a church and if he (or she!) could play traditional ceremony music (we were thinking jesu, joy of man’s desiring, canon in D minor, etc). Anyone with any music expertise want to weigh in?
