So my Maid/Matron of Honor and I were talking and she wants the bridal shower to not be about joint gifts for my Fiance and I, but just about me. I know people do lingerie showers and such but that’s not really my thing. So, in brainstorming we came up with the idea of nice make-up. It’s something that I like but very rarely splurge on for myself and would really like to have some nice stuff.
However, we are having a hard time coming up with exactly how to work that into a bridal shower idea. We don’t have the funds to bring in a make-up artist to show us tips or techniques or anything, so that is out. Also, I might add, that I’m not a super girly girl (which seems the opposite of make-up, I know!) so super duper frilly wouldn’t really suit.
The ideas that have been thrown around are a ‘spa day’ which I can’t really figure out logistics and a ‘make Ashley glamorous’ day. Both have potential but it just doesn’t seem to BE THERE. Any ideas, bees? 🙂

Cute idea! How about calling it a ‘Makeover’ Bridal Shower? ‘Make me glamorous’ doesn’t really have a nice ring to it and seems a little selfish!
You can go to a department store and get sample fragrances and have a ‘testing’ table.
Have Pretty Woman or some other movie like that playing in the background
Play the ‘purse game’: http://www.bridal-shower-games.com/a_009_printable-whats-in-your-purse-game.html
Have everyone write their favorite beauty tips on a cute note card and present them to the bride.

In case anyone was watching this, this is what we went with on the invites and will definitely be using some of @citybearbride’s ideas!
Let’s make up our bride get her ready to go
Send her down the aisle with a fresh face and pampered toes
Share a drink with our friends
To our bride give our cheers
For her wedding day soon will be here
Let’s pamper our bride with our favorite make-up!
Can’t find the right polish or hue?
A gift card is always easy to do.
Need an idea from the beautiful bride?

For the party we’ll have a mimosa (or two).

Do you have any friends who sell Mary Kay? Ones that won’t pressure you to buy, but still do makeovers and demonstrate the different makeups they have? I say a friend, b/c if you find a random seller, they will be hoping that people will want to buy stuff, and you don’t want that to be the focus of the shower!
