Ask about the exchange, if that isn’t an option, you can brainstorm then.

I’ve heard other people say that DB was very nice when it came to exchanges. You could always call them and ask. Could the problem be fixed with alterations?

How tight is it?

Did they measure you before placing the order? What size did your measurements say you were?

I don’t know if David’s Bridal allows fro exchanges like that. You could ask and see what they say.

It’s a beautiful dress.

DB allowed for me to exchange my bridesmaids dress so it might be worth it to go in and explain what happened and see if there’s anything they can do

If you can breathe, I wouldn’t exchange it. The six will most likely be too big requiring alterations to bring it down to fit. How the dress fits depends on multiple things like bloating and where you are in your cycle. I know that sounds weird, but I had multiple brides come in to pick up their dresses and they don’t fit (wont zip), only to come back a week later and the dress fits perfectly.

As you try the dress on, it will stretch. So as you go through alterations and all of the re-trying you will do at home 🙂 it should fit perfectly by the time you are ready to wear it. And if it is still a little uncomfortable closer to the wedding you can get it let out if you really need to. But as you wear it the day of your wedding it will still stretch, and you will have the dress on for several hours before the ceremony begins, so by then it should be comfortable.

Hope This Helps

I also purchased my dress from DB. I have a size 10 and plan on losing weight, so I know they said they cover up to 60 pounds. I do not see why they wouldnt do an exchange. But like everyone said, I would keep it if you plan on losing more weight.

Can they let it out a bit in the bodice?

I had the opposite experience at DB. I was so upset I didn’t want to bother dealing with them again so I just had it tailored to fit. I’d try to ask them to exchange it for a larger size, if not I’d go see a tailor (NOT theirs) and see if it can be let out a bit.

I had this exact same problem at Davids. I ordered a 6 and it fit perfectly and when it came it, it wouldn’t even zip up at the top. I worked out 6 days a week and lost a ton of weight and it still didn’t fit. I took it back in and tried on the 6 they had in the store and it zipped perfectly. They told me that each dress can have minor differences making each one fit differently. They let me exchange it for the size six off the rack. They would have ordered in a new 6 or an 8 if I wanted but I wanted to know for sure that the dress would fit so I kept the sample. Call them or stop in and they will fix it for you!
