So our wedding is outdoors in a backyard on the water. It starts at 3 for the ceremony and just leads into the reception since they are both in the same location. It’s a beatiful place and will be set up nicely. Casual attire and all.
So here’s what we want. We want a lot of food, finger foods though. Instead of a large sit down menu this is what we decided and want for the reception. So we wrote out a list of things that we like and would like to have. All of which are finger foods and southern which is our theme. For drinks since it will be over at 7 at the latest anyways we were thinking like the food, simple.
The finger foods
- Macaroni and Cheese bites (fried mac and cheese balls)
- Pizza stuffed mushrooms (I’m very excited for these)
- Pigs in a blanket
- Chicken Wings (non flavored so they aren’t messy)
- Cheese and fruit tray with crackers
- Mini crab cakes
- Caesar sakad bites (salad sitting on a leaf of lettuce)
- Bacon and cheddar cheese devilled eggs
- Low Country Broil (A stew that consists of boiled shrimp, small potatoes, corn and sausage all boiled together with seasonings)
For the drinks we were thinking
- Ice Water
- Sweet Tea
- Unsweet Tea
And for the alcohol
- Miller Light
- Muchelobe Ultra
- Moscato white wine
- Some sort of red wine
- A champagne type
- Fry bread (to go along with the native part of the wedding)
- The wedding and grooms cake of course
- Peach cobbler (yummy)
Now we just don’t know if this is a big enough selection or if there is anything we should leave out or include. Any ideas on the menu? Opinions or good additions or anything

Sorry for the typos, no lighting in the room so it’s hard to see the keyboard

What about swamp juice aka iced tea & lemonade? Also I like Texas Tea as an alcoholic drink.

Yum! The menu sounds wonderful! Mini pulled pork sandwiches could be fun 🙂
What about desserts? Red velvet cupcakes? Mini pies? Maybe ice cream!
Great job, have fun!

@deetroitwhat: That’s a great idea! We didn’t want sodas and didn’t know how to include liquor without including soda but that’s a great way! Thank you!

@mmle: I like that idea and it’s been an idea on our list we just didn’t know if we should include it with the wedding or if it would be too messy. It’s back on the list!
@chasesgirl: Haha the mac and cheese bites are soooooooo good!
For deserts I didn’t think to add them so I’ll go edit and include them 🙂

If you’re only having one white wine, I’d do something other than Moscato – it’s VERY sweet. You might want something more refreshing, like Pinot Grigio or even Vinho Verde.

The menu sounds fantastic! I wish I was going lol. I didn’t even think of desser but red velvet cupcakes sound great! We’re doing ice cream right after our ceremony and I’m pretty exctied for that. Another thought…beer floats (beer and ice cream) we have a local green apple beer that is fantastic!

potato skins or dirty rice in a appetizer cup? something a bit more substantial but that can still be serves in bite form?

@kris325: Your menu looks delicious, but I would probably throw in a dessert or two. I think you could do something pretty inexpensive, such as brownies, cupcakes (I like a previous poster’s suggestion of red velvet cake cupcakes because I love red velvet cake!), fruit pies, cheesecake, etc.
Oh, and fried macaroni and cheese balls are amazing. Yum!

I think having something to eat that’s a little lighter would be a great option… like little cups of gazpacho, rice/veggie salad, veggie sticks, etc?
Also, I like white wine but moscato is waaaaay too sweet for me. On other posts about alcohol, the consensus here seems to be that you should skip a sweet wine and do a nice dry one instead (pinot grigio or chardonnay, for example).
Besides that, YUM!!!
