I was going to spray tan but thought I would hit the tanning bed today. My wedding is Sunday. I don’t know what the heck happened, but I got strips down my back…like where the bulbs were-does this even make sense?!!
So now I have pinkish/tanned skin with lighter on my back. I put on some tanning lotion tonight (just a self-tanner) but not sure what to do about this. Can Ido a stand up tan and will it help a bit? Should I just do a spray tan tomorrow?
Why did this happen?!

I’m not really sure what to do and I haven’t been tanning for years, but I think that can happen sometimes if you get a bed that has recently changed (new) bulbs! I would definitely talk to the tanning place about it and ask them what they recommend. Have you ever done a spray tan before? If you have, maybe a light one would help but I sure wouldn’t want to try anything new this close to the big day. Maybe the whole thing will just fade by the weekend? Good luck!

@Juliepants: This sucks because I have bee nworking so hard to have a nice, even back. And now I have a landing strip on either side it white. Arggggh.
I will talk to them tomorrow, just want to go in there armed. 🙂 I had a spray tan last week-it was ok, I hate the smell but if iget it done now, maybe it would fade a bit by the Sunday.

Do they have a stand-up booth? That should help eliminate any lines you have! (I used to work at a tanning bed… about 2 years)

Yep stand up bed should do the trick. That used to happen to me all of the time..

Are the lines where your back makes the most pressure touching the bed? I used to get white lines where my shoulder blades would touch. Not sure why that happens. But if it really bothers you I would just get a spray tan by someone who does it by hand. (Don’t do mystic tan unless you’ve done it before) Mystic tan made my skin look a little orange, but I am also VERY pale.
A spray tan looks great in photos. Just don’t go too dark… it will look obvious!

Thanks so much for the advice. Yes, I did a lay down…should have done a stand up 🙁
At this point, I guess spray tan is the only option.

OH man that sucks. Should definitely fade a bit before your wedding. I’d just do the spray tan. That should camo your skin enough while it balances back out a bit.

@Juliepants: I was going to say the same thing. I’m not an expert and it’s been a long time since I tanned. But they used to warn me when they put new bulbs in because they were hotter…
