I just realized that we have to use our old church for our wedding ceremony because the new church renovations will not be completed before our wedding date. My fiancé and I are so distraught about it because the venue is very ugly to say the least. How can you transform an ugly church to be wedding presentable without breaking your bank??????

Do you have any pictures you could post?

Have you considered looking for another venue, even another church?
As for your questions, I personally think that lighting can have the biggest impact. Even strands and strands of christmas-style light, which would take the eye off the ugly church. Browse wedding blogs, like Southern Weddings and Green Wedding Shoe, for ideas! Do you have pics of the space? If you can visualize it, that really helps to be able to say “Hmm, maybe this HERE and this HERE” so you can see what your ideas would look like.

I have no idea what kinds of resources you have, but for our little ugly church (said in the most endearing way haha) we’re planning on borrowing a large white tent from some family friends and buying white/clear lights to decorate with. Of course you’ll need to check to make sure candles are allowed in your church (they aren’t allowed in LDS churches at all due to insurance) and what other restrictions there may be on the sorts of decorations you might want.
