Ok, so I couldn’t come up with any other title for this post.
Basically, I need help in the career field. I see so many bees and others on here with the word "communications" in their job titles.
I have a degree in communications with an emphasis in journalism. I currently work as a reporter for a local newspaper, but I just don’t think this is the job for me.
Does anyone know what else I can do with this type of degree and where I can start looking for a new job??
Thanks!

"What Color is Your Parachute?" Its a book. Get it. Read it. If you dont like your job for a career, and don’t know what you might rather do, DONT just go where your degree takes you. Figure out what you want to do and then figure out how ot make your degree work for you. It works for you, not visa versa.

My sister is a photojournalist and wants to go out on her own and do freelance/wedding photography. She of course is terrified to just leave a job and not have any income although working for newspapers isn’t much income as you well know….
I dropped out of school to move up to Boston from South Carolina to be with my then boyfriend now fiance (thank god it worked out!) so I’ve been nannying fulltime until I can finish school.
My sister after the first of the year is going to start nannying part time freelancing part time until she gets on her feet with what she wants to do.
I know this isn’t directly related to your question but I jsut wanted to show you that there are other options out there in the meantime until you find what it is your looking for. It may not be glamorous (changing diapers never is) but money is money. And I make as much as my fiance does in finance. And I get morning naps and I can go shopping during the day and all of it. :o)
