I would suggest having candy other than just chocolate. i went to a dessert reception last year where everything was chocolate and it got to be too much, not to mention that if you couldn’t eat chocolate you were out of luck.

that being said, i went to a shower that had a candy buffet and they had a wide variety…cookies, cheesecake, choc strawberries, peach gummis, after dinner mints, sixlets, peppermints, circus peanuts… a big mix and that was much better.  sorry i can’t give you any idea on how much to expect each person to take, everyone is different and it will depend on if your offering other food as well.

I think it depends on the size of the bag.

I went to a wedding where the candy bag was huge. Thus you are enticed to put more.

I went to a wedding where they had small bags thus enough to fill a handful of M&Ms which was more than enough for me.

Check out projectwedding.com, they have some great inspirations on there, and you can choose colors to focus the pics on.

i read somewhere about half a pound per person, but u might need a lil more for it to look good.  i would google candy buffet and look at the pics…most people choose two colors and make all the candies those colors…like im doing blue and silver candies….

hey i found a few other sites….:http://budgetdreamweddings.com/907/candy-buffet-tips/ and http://www.ehow.com/how_5072145_create-cheap-wedding-candy-buffet.html….i noticed from your other posts you were on a budget…i will tell ya this, people tend to eat more candy than you would think. when people come to a wedding and see candy, its like they are kids. some people say about 4 ounces per person, i would def try to do at least half a pound per person, i went to a wedding with one and accidently ate about a pound between me and my fiance and took a lil home to…. and you sure wanna have enough for it to visually look good… i know half a pound per person sounds like alot, but its not. me and my bro took a trip to the candy store the other day and i kept warning him he was going over board…he didint listen. he ended up having 3 lbs in his bag!!! i laughed so hard.

well, a sams would prob be your best bet…. or if u can find a sale at a pharmacy….i would say to go to a candy store and ask them to include your order when they make their order, but i sure dont think you have time for that…. im an avid coupon clipper so sunday, go get a paper and see if you can find a coupon or sale somewhere. and if u find a coupon, and you happen to have a harris teeter, ask them when their super doubles week is and they will double, yes double your coupons….but they only do this every 6 weeks or so and periodically they have a triples week. so go ask. you might get lucky before the wedding. but if you cant find this stroke of luck scenerio, def go to sams or costco… and some states local micheals has wedding candy for good prices….

I’m planning my wedding for next summer. We are doing Amy Atlas inspired buffets for the desserts, candy, and even our bbq.

For the candy: chocolate dipped marshmellows, rock candy, truffles, chocolate dipped pretzel sticks, petite cookies decorated with fondant/dipped/frosted, lollipops, cake pops, maltballs, m&m’s. I plan on using my 4 x 5″ glassine bags that I have as the take home. This buffet is not my favors its just an extra fun project for me.

I am a crafter by trade and i dabble in party planning, several members of my family are avid bakers so most of this will be do it yourself for us.

But seriously check out

For some inspiration as well as check out their links to other blogs…

Amazing!

Best of luck!
