We decided to do navy blue and charcoal grey as our wedding color “theme.” I was looking at pictures and I think it isn’t enough – that we need an accent color. I posted my own color palate below that I put together, it has a picture of my dress on it and then the colors I found that I want to incorporate. I was thinking the perfect accent color would be blush (girls are wearing navy dresses and boys are wearing dark charcoal suits). I don’t want this pinkish color everywhere either. Just maybe on the guys suits and little pieces of it in the centerpieces or just little hints somewhere. But the Fiance hates it. He wants me to find a different accent color – light/heather grey or silver. I need thoughts/opinions? I am a visual person so I like to create these color palate boards to make sure it shows a consistent theme. We are not doing yellow, gold, green or purple. Let me know your thoughts bees!

You need a bright color, the blush would be perfect, everything else is so dark, so silver, light grey, like your Fiance suggested are still “dark”.

What about a pale yellow? Is that something your Fiance and you would like? Personally I think yellow gos great with grey and blue

You definitely need something that isn’t monochromatic – blush would work very well. If Fiance doesn’t like that, maybe a red or a coral? Try a few different accent colors and present him with choices, he may see that it looks nicer than he thought.

Thanks all. We are going for that rich and regal look. We are getting married outside in a huge garden in Center City Philadelphia so the pictures are going to be gorgeous. We both knocked out alot of colors and I think the idea of pink scares him! But I think the blush looks so great and it contrasts everything so well.
@Lacelibs: we are trying to stay away from yellow and green in general. I like the idea but that wedding theme color has been taken by a friend of our previously and we don’t want it to repeat.

I am literally have this same debate! We havent reached a decision yet. I think we might add a lot more white. I am no help…

I think monochromatic color schemes can have a stunning visual effect, so if thats what you like, go for it!! I think it would look very elegany and classy, so if you are going for a fun/casual wedding it wouldn’t work. I also like the blush, but since fh doesn’t like it then its out of the question lol. What about a peach color?

soooo many colours can go with navy and charcoal – blush, yellow, orange, green, coral, peach, red, purple, lilac, violet… take your pick!

I think pops of red would look really nice and definitely go with the “regal” thing, my other thought was yellow but you said no on that 🙂 My sister in law did my brother and her wedding gray and yellow and then wore red shoes and threw red dahlias in with the flowers on the tables, it was the only place i saw the red and thought it looked really great.

I think you need something light, but something warm – light yellow is a good suggestions, or a light, champagne gold.

you could use another shade of blue or gray
lavender will also work

When I see/think about all these other colors – blush is the only thing that really pops to me! I might have to over-rule the Fiance on this one!!!
@julies1949: This is what he thinks too. He thinks if we just do shades of the blue or the charcoal or maybe through in silver (metallic) then it would pack enough of a punch but keep it regal.
@natbug21: I originally agreed with this thought. Maybe I should stick with my instincts and just go with it.
@MsLonnieBee: This is what I want to do with the blush. Maybe a bit of color on the centerpieces and maybe 1 or 2 flowers. Or maybe have the flower girl and ring bearer in blush – then that would be IT. I really just want enough to make the pictures pop
@MsJ2theZ: We really didn’t want red. But now that I think about it, our reception hall has red curtains. maybe we can plan on this. I like the red daisy look – so maybe we could encorporate that into the wedding and it would tie the reception hall in together! Thanks!
@ktkoala: Haha! You and me both. Try a color palate board like I did in Word. It HELPS SO MUCH! Start with your dress and then use google images. I think using ALOT of white will really help you. But if your not having the nautical theme – then be careful. Let me know what you decide! Are you using the charcoal too?
