You could stick with your original plan and just have two containers of flowers at the front.Consider elevating the vases on tree stumps and using something rustic for a container for the flowers.

that’s how we decorated, i’m not sure i have a picture with whole the church decorated yet, but the idea was white tule, candles and ivory roses.

Here are pictures from my wedding. my theme was Rustic elegance. I know that you don’t want an “Altar” but here is what we did for ours. We used to sets of antique French doors- one at the altar and one at the start of the isle. I also had log rounds down the isle with mason jars of flowers. It turned out beautiful!!! and we received sooo many compliments.

These are birch poles in a huge cylinder vase. You could use an acrylic tube or just tie the poles together. If you tied them around a pedestal, 4×4″, or a larger diameter pole, you would have a flat stable center on which to place your vase of flowers.

We made 2 large arrangements in urns with curly willow, berries, eucalyptus, and moss.  They were around 7 feet tall and made a gorgeous backdrop.  We also lined the aisle with curly willow, candles, and a few flowers.

Urns are pretty popular and very portable.

Good luck.
