Hi Detroit/SE Michigan bees,
Planning is coming along well, but I’m still stuck on a few vendors and I’m wondering if anyone has suggestions.
We haven’t found a DJ for the reception. We want a fun party and a broad mix of music (80s to Bollywood to Hair Band Rock to Country). Any suggestions? I definitely don’t want super cheesy disco lights though.
We’re also looking for a videographer. Everyone we’ve checked out is super cheesy in their editing or not great quality. A friend suggested finding a UM film student who does weddings on the side, has anyone done this?
And finally we’re thinking of having music (string quartet) for the ceremony. Most likely my FH’s cousin will sing the precessional, so we need accompaniment. Places to look?
Thanks so much!

For our wedding we used a DJ from Gail and Rice (it is owned by my husband’s family)- Do not use this service. We were told that the DJ would be beyond great when asked if we could see a sample of his work. We chose to go with him because supposedly we were getting him at cost- I think we over paid. He was mediocre (and really weird).
Instead I reccomend:
I wish we would have went with one of these companies, they were easy to get information from and they have great reviews.

We’re using a great DJ who I think is based downriver for our Ann Arbor wedding. He DJ’d for two of my friends and both times, he did an awesome job. He played a great mix of music and got everyone out on the dance floor. Also, he was friendly and entertaining without making the whole night "all about him" like some DJs do. His name is DJ Joey A:
