When I saw the new Vera Wang Black collection for groom/groomsmen, my fiance and I knew we had to do some combination of both of her tuxes (one is charcoal an one is black). We decided on charcoal gray for the groom & groomsmen and black for the ushers & dads. The problem that I desperately need help with is the fact that my dress only came in Ivory and therefore I decided I needed Ivory shirts for all the men…but then the combo of the black tie with the gray tuxes with an ivory shirt looked terrible. The black tie no longer popped. We proceeded to look for gray ties…but none of the one’s at Men’s Wearhouse were dark enough to match the tux. We reluctantly chose to do ivory shirts/ties with charcoal gray tux for groomsmen and ivory shirt/gray striped ascot for groom…so my questions are:
1) Is a vest needed for the groom since he’s wearing an ascot?
2) If the groom has a vest, should the groomsmen and other bridal party members wear vests too? We initially said no vests because we thought it looked cleaner.
3) I did black tux with ivory shirt/black tie for both ushers and dads…should I make the dads stand out more?
Why couldn’t my dress just come in white????!!!??
