I was hoping you could help me stop angsting about how to ‘soften’ my look for an outdoor afternoon wedding. Originally, I wasn’t going to wear a veil because I like long simple veils and our ceremony is going to be outside where it could be windy (we watched a bride battle her veil at our venue).
Here’s the dress and shoes combo:
I am already accessorizing with a necklace my sister bought me:
I really like looks at places like here: http://www.kissdresses.com/high-quality-chiffon-fabric-sheath-wedding-dress-1.html or here: http://www.hairstylies.com/wedding-updo-hairstyles-updos-for-medium-length-hair.html
I don’t have my ears pierced, so everything is going to come from a hairdo or veil. I can’t find a headband like the one in the first link and certainly couldn’t deal with a long veil. I’m thinking of breaking down and using my sister’s fingertip veil and buying a headband like this(http://weddingfactorydirect.com/hp-6469.html ), but would like any advice you bees can give.

I love the way the necklace looks with that dress! If you’re worried about wind, maybe you should do an updo with pretty hair clips?
They have stuff like this all over etsy.

your dress almost screams for a long veil, i know you said you dont want one but it would give it a very bridal look!
Also, since you dont have your ears pierced have you considered clip on earrings? They have very pretty ones and you could even find awesome vintage ones if that is your style.
The necklace you have matches perfectly imo.

@BriansBride: Thanks for the pics! I actually ran into your first picture last night and was wowed, so I’m glad to know you agree. I think it would go great with the dress and with my hair, so I’m working on making little hair flowers to see how it looks (poverty breeds creativity). Sadly, I didn’t budget for $100 in ‘hair pretties’ as my fiance calls it ;). I think I can twist wire enough to make this work on a $20 budget though.
@lightmist: Thanks for the feedback. I agree, after much internet searching (I dreamed about a veil) . . a long veil would be nice . . maybe if it rains, I should consider the long veil as a consolation prize 🙂 That will justify getting it, right? I really like the ones with the satin edge . . . but none of them would be graceful when you are beating it out of your face the whole ceremony.
I decided no earrings because it’s just not me (and I don’t want relatives buying me earrings for Christmas after this!). I think the necklace and a good hairdo should do the trick. I’m not very traditional and our budget is tight.
