Hi fellow bees!
Need help with our travel itinerary 🙂
We would be traveling from Tegucigalpa, Honduras to:
San Francisco, Sausalito, Napa, Lake Tahoe, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas…
We would have approximately 12 days to travel….
Too many places in such a short time?
Any way to arrange this to maximize our travel time?

are you driving or flying while in California and Nevada?

@Aguero82: You will definitely want to say a day in.
Day 1: Get into SF
Day 2: Explore SF and Sausalito (Sausalito is small you can do it in a few hours) Drive up towards Napa and overnight on the way to Napa. SF-Napa is a 2 hour drive but if cost is a factor, staying in around North Bay will be cheaper.
Day: 3 Explore Napa and stay in Napa or outside of Napa
Day 4: Drive up to Lake Tahoe (3-4 hour drive)
Day 5: Water sports/snow sports depending on time of year; Stay up in Lake Tahoe
Day 6: Drive down through Yosemite and explore; stay in Central Valley
Day 7: Continue driving to Vegas should get there in about 5-6 hours.
Day 8: Explore Vegas and Grand Canyon area.
You can insert extra days where you want to stay at a city or location for longer!

We barely scratched the surface of Vegas in three days (gambled in at least ten of the casinos on the Strip, Fairmont Street, Hoover Dam.) San Francisco was tight in two days but we managed to see the highlights (Fisherman’s Wharf, Chinatown, ride a trolley.) We squeezed in a day trip to Sonoma but we wished we had spent more time there.
You could do it in 12 days so long as you are okay with the highlights.
I recommend 2 nights at least in San Francisco. One night in Sausalito. One or two nights in Napa (slow down a bit and enjoy, it’s beautiful!) Two nights in Lake Tahoe. Three or more nights in Vegas. Overnight in Grand Canyon then back to Vegas (i.e. civilization.)

We would really like to drive and enjoy the scenery…avoid flying as much as possible.
TGU to SFO is enough for me!
