The size of styrofoam ball you use really does depend on the height or thickness of what you are going to insert. Generally a 4-5″ ball will work for aisle or centerpiece pomanders.

To make the pomander for the centerpiece, press the ball down on top of the vase until you get a significant indentation. This willl help the balls stay steady on the top of the vase.

Make the pomander leaving the area inside the indent empty.

To assemble the centerpiece- place anything you plan to use inside the vase, use hot glue or E6000 glue along the indentation line then press the pomander securely down on to the vase.

You can add flowers inside the indentation if you want, but leave it so you can see the line all the way around. Some bees do the whole ball and just balance it on top of the vase. There will be some squishing of the flowers on the edge of the vase. It is also not as stable as when it is glued, but both ideas will work.

To add the string of rhinstones or crystals, just secure it with a U pin- from the florist section at the craft store. Dip the prongs of the U pin in some glue or add a dab of hot glue then shove it between two of the beads or crystals into the center of the bottom of the ball.

A great look is to add a larger crystal at the bottom of the string.

Some brides add a band of ribbon at the bottom.
