I say Lilly because her full name has two l’s. I’m just particular like that though. XD

As a nickname, it doesn’t really matter how you spell it. But I guess the more “accurate” way to spell it would be with two l’s – Lilly – since you’re spelling her name Lillian.

@HappyBride827:  Everyone will give you their 2 cents about names so here’s mine – this is one of my all-time favorite names!! I always thought it was beautiful, and it reminds me of Lily Potter (nerdy? yes) and she is just awesome. I’ve always seen “Lily” but I don’t think either one is “right,” it’s lovely both ways

I guess it’s however you want to spell it… I wouldn’t think that either of them are incorrect..

I think double L if Lillian also has a double L.

But also I don’t think it matters. Both my daughters (now teenagers / young adults) have shortened versions of their names as nicknames, but we rarely write them.

I would automatically assume that if thenickname had one L then the full name would have one L (Lilian) so I voted for the double L.

This is really totally up to whatever you all think is right. However, since the flower is spelled lily, I would spell it that way just to avoid it getting constantly misspelled.

But seriously, it doesn’t matter what any of us would do. It only matters what you two think is best. 🙂

I know two Lilys. Both with single Ls. One is 75 and the other is about 35.  Not that really means much. Go with what you like.

I’ve seen it both ways. But I’ve also seen it spelled Lilli. So… you can spell it however you want to! Great name.

Beautiful name. I love that name, and I would spell it Lily (like Lily pad) but it looks cute either way.

Since she likely will go by her nickname most of the time, and the name Lily generally has only one “l,” I would go with the more common spelling so that she constantly doesn’t have to correct people by saying “Lilly with two ls.”

This actually reminds me of the Jennifer, Jenn, Jen situation.  All of the Jennifers I knew spelled their nicknames “Jen,” and, suddenly, about nine years ago, all of the Jennifers I met spelled their nicknames Jenn, and I was not accustomed to that.  As soon as I got used to writing Jenn on cards and notes, I met another Jen, lol! 🙂

@HappyBride827:  our daughter’s name is “Lillian” and we calll her “Lily” so my vote was for 1 l Smile
