Hi everyone,
So after much searching, Fiance and I are deciding between the Orensanz Foundation and the Brooklyn Museum of Art– I love both spaces and can’t decide. I was wondering if you could please give me some advice and share your experience!
Thanks!!!

I haven’t been to either but if I were you I would think about cost of each, and then cost to your guests. For example, how much are the hotels near these locations? And what about parking? If you don’t hink your guests will care that’s fine. But if it’s drastically cheaper at one over the other that might be better.
PS they both look beautiful!

Thank you so much everyone! Cost and parking is definitely a great consideration when deciding.
We just found out about Skylight One Hanson: http://www.skylightnyc.com/onehanson/, and now it’s between Skylight and BK Museum of Art. Please let me know what you think!

@abigaillapin: I’m totally having my wedding at The Museum! How’s your experience with Skylight?

Skylight is good so far, but the layout of the place is a little awkward for a wedding. The museum is so beautiful, but I wanted a day wedding, so that would be a compromise. How has your experience with the museum been so far?

I booked in 2009 so I’ve seen some personnel changes. I really like the new catering director but the whole exclusive caterer thing is a bummer. Plus it totally drives up the cost and you don’t have any real negotiating power. I’d check to see if they have any other exclusive vendor contracts. Other than than that I really like the special events team there and so far so good. When are you looking to book?

Yes, I totally agree that the exclusive caterer is annoying. We are looking to book in August 2011, and our date is available. What is stopping me is that I really wanted a day wedding, and here we can only have a night wedding. Also, did you like the ceremony area? Or are you having a ceremony somewhere else? We were thinking of having a ceremony earlier during the day and then the reception at the museum, because that may be the compromise…
If not we’re also looking at Skylight One Hanson, but I like the museum’s space more….

We decided to do the ceremony there too. We’re using the lobby area. I like it. What space were you considering for the ceremony? I didn’t mind the time because we wanted an evening wedding but it does start late especially on the weekend. One Hanson is interesting I would’ve considered it if it were available when I started looking. I did look at Capitale in the city which has the same bank building vibe.

Hello! Do you ladies mind telling me how much a wedding at either Skylight or the Museum of Art would run abouts? I want to have my wedding in the NYC area but wasn’t sure how affordable it was…thanks!
