It realy is so hard to build a new house since you really have no idea what will look good together! Having such a hard time picking out our granite for our kitchen! I need opinions!
Here are our cabinets…obviously not our kitchen but these are the cabinets and color that we chose.
here are the actual floor color, took these through the window today since they are still wet! this is looking into the dining room and the kitchen will be in the very back side
Now we are stuck on granite, we still want to keep it light and airy but there are so many choices out there so we have narrowed it down to these!
#1 Caledonia- Its sort of a grey mix with a tint of purple but not over powering purple.
#2 Gallio Napoli
and #3 New Venetian Gold
The difference between 2 & 3 is 3 has more cranberry accents and 2 has more black accents.
Do you think these are too light and we should look for others and if there are other colors let us know! Neither of us really want black so that is out of the question!
Thanks for your help in advance!

I like #1 the caledonia! With brown cabinets and brown floors, I wouldn’t want any shades of brown in the granite. Just my opinion, though.

I like #2 because it picks up the warm tones in the cabinets. Pretty!

Option 1! i dont think the browns go well with the cabinets if you want to keep it airy go with grey

I DIDN’T VOTE…
As this is something IMO you really have to see / compare in person… does your Home Builder have a Sales Office where they show all the decor options… and you can put things side-by-side ?
Another alternative would be to visit a BIG Box Home Improvement Store like Home Depot or Lowes where you can do the same thing.
Look around on-line… even just GOOGLE – Kitchen Granite Countertops – and you can browse a lot of sample rooms at once.
OR you could use my NEW Favourite Home Renovation Inspiration… PINTEREST… oodles of great pics on there to look at.
Hope this helps (somewhat),
PS… LOVE your floors… we have Hardwood now on our entire main floor, including the Kitchen and we love it. Warm & Welcoming !!

I like #1 – complimentary but not too matchy-matchy – I don’t like the cranberry in #3

I LOVE 3 it’s so pretty:) the first granite looks too busy to me.

Honestly, none of them wow me (but I’m pretty so take that with a grain of salt). If I HAD to pick one, it would probably be #2. Are those your only choices?

Thanks everyone! None of them really wow me either but then again granites not something that really excites me lol
Here are a few more options we had…..
#4 Giallo Ornamental

These were not our only choices but we have a time issue, our house now closes in less than 2 weeks and our new house is not finished yet so we have to pick something that they have easy access to or is already on the lot. My builder doesnt have a specific show room, he uses his houses as model houses, we saw one kitchen that we didnt really care for and another we loved but it was all way above our price range and the only model house he had left right now just sold so we kind of have to use our imagination and its tougher than I thought it would be!
I found some kitchens online that have those countertops but cant match the actual cabinets

Are you trying to decide from just these small samples? You really need to go to the granite yard and have them pull slabs for you, as they look really different in larger pieces. Some have heavy graining or more ‘movement’ to them, and those small samples can be very deceiving.
You’ll be living with it for a long time, so I think you need to find one that is pretty neutral so you don’t find yourself being locked into using one color for accents. It will also be better for resale if you decide to move.
Looks like we were posting at the same time. Now that I’ve seen the new pictures, I like #4 the best. It really adds some interest!

@ItWasntMe: Thanks! I did go to the stone yard and those samples are taken off of the bigger slabs they have in stock. There were ton to choose from but a lot of them I didnt like the slab so I didnt even consider it an option! Its so hard to figure this out! I thought this would be the easy part because I had such a hard time with the cabinets, appliances, lighting ect that I never even considered how many options of granite there is out there! I found one I really liked but it was just my taste and would not fit in well with my husband, it was white and purple lol

even though Im not a huge fan of it, I really like the name of #5 Ubatuba its fun to say lol

@Leonard2B: One of my friends and her husband picked one that they thought they both loved, but after it was installed, he decided he hated it and wanted it ripped out and redone immediately. He was driving her crazy, but he insisted that’s the one that would look best (and he’s a realtor so thought he was so savvy). lol It had a lot of reds and pinks in it, so I don’t know why they thought you magically wouldn’t notice those colors once installed.
I’ve had mine for 13 years and I never get tired of it. We have Kashmir White.

@ItWasntMe: Thats what I am so worried about, we are going to pick something, hate it then want to replace it but wont have the money to do it for a few years! I am trying to pick something neutral that wont “go out of style”
