I am having my wedding reception in my church’s hall which is lovely, but I want to make it feel more like a WEDDING reception.
The only problem is I cannot hang/tape/attach ANYTHING to the walls or ceiling!!
I am having a fall (brown & orange) wedding on a budget and need fun idea on how to decorate cheaply, but still look wonderful without hanging anything. I would love to incorporate lighting and anything else to make it look fun!
HELP!

@Happy1: First of all, I’m a Sept. 4 2011 bride! We’re almost date twins! Yay! Congrats!!!
Now onto those decorations…Hum, could you do a tall version of the first DIY project on this blog post (http://www.weddingbee.com/2010/11/12/diy-friday-29/) I’m talking about the ornament tree. It can add some height, sparkle, and maybe you could even figure out a way to string lights between the bulbs. Since your wedding is next fall, you could keep your eyes peeled for clearance x-mas ornaments in your colors after the holidays are over so that you can save some $$ and stock up to do your projects!
I’d also keep my eyes peeled for clearance stuff after thanksgiving. Nothing w/ turkeys of course. But maybe you’ll find a bunch of orange and brown table runners, or something to use for a centerpiece! Who knows!
Good luck!!! 🙂

Buy some Command hooks and take them to the people in charge of your church hall.
Show them how they can be removed with no damage to the walls. Maybe they will change their minds.
If not, I second the recommendation to look for decor items after Thanksgiving-or even before when they start to clearance price.
You might be able to find some fall colored artificial trees, wooden barrels etc that would give a fall flavor to your decor.

You could also use helium ballons. The ones that are perfectly round look great.

I agree with what the other posters have said — anything that adds height will help! I especially love the helium balloon idea – you could really have fun with color!
