A have full control of our menu (3 choices of 3 courses). I want to refrain from having a typical wedding menu, but I am a bit stuck on what to have! So far I know I want scallops with grilled chorizo as a entree, mushroom risotto for main and sticky date pudding for dessert. I need 2 more choices for each course. Any suggestions welcome!

What about a grilled veggie and goat’s cheese tart for a vegetarian entree?
Herb crusted lamb chops as a red meat main?
Some sort of chocolate and crunchy salty caramel thing for dessert? Maybe with an interesting flavor ice cream or creme fraiche?

@KatNYC2011: yum!!! Awesome suggestions. What sides would you have with the lamb? Cous cous?

@Bears-bub: Cous cous and maybe roasted zuchini, squash, and tomatoes?
Or you could go the heavier option and do gratin potatoes and sauteed carrots and baby onions.

As a vegetarian the tart sounds delicous 🙂
You could try something really different like a tagine? Cous cous is defintely a delicous addition to any meal, and it picks up flavours really well.
Our reception venue recommended having two meat based meat options and a vegetarian one (even though half our guests are vegetarian? oh well their choice) so I’m thinking things like… Wasabi salmon with an asian inspired coleslaw, or maybe a softshell crab… And then probably a beef something with tagine style vegetables.

@miss.alice.m: We have to have a vegetarian to keep the pricing. But we have some health foodies coming so I am sure whatever we have will be popular

Scallops and chorizo sounds awesome.
What about a creme brulee?
Starters that are nice are a seared sesame tuna, some kind of spinach salad with strawberries, parmesan and basalmic, anything with proscuitto or bacon?

Since you have a scallop and a veggie, I would go with a meat.
Maybe a beef trio of coffee rubbed braised short rib, beef carpaccio over wilted arugula and slices of prime rib with a wild mushroom and port sauce? Or something like that.
They are doing great things with mac and cheese, like mac and cheese balls as a side?
A really great salad would be a hit with a lot of people like an avocado and papaya frisee salad with a citrus lime vinaigrete
Dessert, I love little bites. maybe another trio of little bites, like a mini lemon tart, mini cannoli and chocolate dipped strawberry.
