We are having a very small ceremony and I have decided to try and make my invitations to save $$$ I am looking to make a very simple invitation with 2 pieces of cardstock: one for a background and a slightly smaller piece on top with the invitation printed on it. But I need help because I don’t know what size cardstock to use. Does anybody out there know what size can be mailed out using a single stamp or will any invitation I send out cost more to mail? The only thing included with the invitation will be directions to the church, no std’s or anything. Also, how do i trim the smaller piece of cardstock to make it slightly smaller than the background piece. I’m thinking about taking the cardstock to Officemax and letting them print them for me. I will appreciate any advice anybody has. Thanks!

have you already bought it? If not, order it from the internet and some will cut it for you, we got ours from paperandmore.com . Otherwise go to like kinkos and use their papercutter, they let you use it for free. I’m not sure about sizes but look at envelope sizes (A4, etc.) and see what fits in there and if it only takes one stamp or not.

Start with the envelope. Choose what size, color, brand, etc. envelope you want to use and then look for paper. Square envelopes will be more expensive to mail. To cut down costs you may want to purchase letter size (8.5×11) cardstock and cut it down to size yourself, either at Kinko’s or with a home paper cutter. Often times you can print two invitations on one sheet of paper and then cut it down.

Hey! I went to http://www.cutcardstock.com and ordered whatever color I wanted for the bottom part of the invite in size A7, and then the top color in size A6 and they look perfect! They are really cut nicely and I know I could never get the edges to look so professional! I did the invites exactly how you did them and it cost me about $30. Good luck!

You might want to check out http://www.cardsandpockets.com/ and look at their "Panel Cards". They sound like exactly what you’re looking for. To make 25 invite sets in the "standard" 5" x 7" size (Panel card (to mount the invite on), the invite, RSVP card, RSVP envelope and mailing envelope) works out to ~$22.50.
You can probably do this way cheaper if you’re willing to do the cutting yourself but you can at least get all the measurements from the website!
ETA – lol I feel like a dork.. Just realized that you posted this months ago. Oh well!
