“When we do, you’ll be the first to know.”

As my SO says “What! We aren’t getting married!” (He’s not funny at ALL haha!)

“We aren’t trying to rush into anything right now.”

“I/we have other priorities we are focusing on.”

Can you tell I have had to field these questions a lot?! UGH!

Yep, I get this a lot from random people and my high school students-daily, lol… Sometimes I say, “Weddings are expensive!”  or “Not yet!”  I really want to say, “Mind your damn business.” lol

@Hbomb84:  I like the “When we do, you’ll be the first to know!” <— I’m gonnna start using this. 🙂

@DaisyCakes: Haha thanks!

Oooo and here’s another one “Be on the lookout for my relationship status change on Facebook”. (Of course that would only work for the more modern person, unless grandma has facebook…Which would be super awesome!) I know for a fact I have said that one to a few people.

I am honestly thinking about not telling anyone and just doing it that way when the time comes haha.

@KatyInWaiting:“We’re happy where we are now, and just enjoying each other, but a proposal would be an AWESOME surprise”

@Hbomb84: I LOVE THIS ONE… It’s getting to the point where people ask to see the ring… and it’s like uhhh… nope, don’t have one.

@kimbean: Seriously?! People are so rude sometimes.  I mean, I know they have good intentions, but JEEZ!  I’m like, when I have the ring I will be shoving it in your face, okay?!

Saying ‘last week’ with a deadpan face can be alot of fun.

Nobody really knows what to say to it and it usually makes your point well 😛

Or maybe I just have a strange idea of what ‘funny’ is…

How about something like “We’re getting married as soon as you learn some tact.”

Blech I hate when people ask that, too.  I’m usually pretty good with witty comebacks, but I have no good responses for this one haha.  Since I think Boyfriend or Best Friend is planning to pop the question on vaca in Novemeber, I just tell them, “Hopefully when we go to Disney in November.”  I wish I had some glorious comeback, but the truth usually shuts them up haha

I would pretend to shrug it off and say “eh, someday” as if it wasn’t the most important thing to you right now.  If they get the sense that you are excited and anticipating it, they will continue to ask.  Act like it isn’t a huge deal right now and maybe they will stop.

I like to say, “As soon as we’re ready.”

I hate getting that question as well. I know people mean it well, but it’s not really up to me, is it? Usually I just say that it will happen when we are financially ready.
