My bridesmaid dresses are plum (David’s bridal) and my dress is a light ivory. I’m trying to figure out what color the groomsmen shoud wear. I like charcoal or grey, but also like black for the groom. Is it weird to have the groom in something else? Thoughts? Input? What did you all do for your wedding?
Thanks!

I don’t think it’s weird to have the groom in a different color.
In our case, we went with a different shade. My DH wore charcoal and his guys were in a lighter grey. Girls were in DB’s ballet..

You could see the color difference a bit better here..

Not wierd at all to have the groom in a different colour! Personally, I really like it as then they actually stand out from the groomsmen, its their wedding too after all. Both charcoal or a medium grey would look nice with the purple, medium grey would be a little better of a contrast from a black suit on the groom if you’re into it.
We’re doing something similar – Groom in grey with a vest, groomsmen in charcoal (no vest), bridesmaids are in hunter green.

springtimewedding1987 : My girls wore a similar color and our groomsmen wore navy suits. It is really pretty combo. My husband wore a different color tux jacket. you can put your groom in a different color as long as it coordinates well with the color the groomsmen are wearing.

I actually really like the groom in a different color. My husband wore a charcoal grey suit with a vest, and the groomsmen wore light grey with no vest. It allowed him to stand out while still matching. My bridesmaids wore navy (marine from Davids Bridal)

Here is one from pinterest with the groomsmen in light grey and groom in dark grey. I think the groom in black might look weird since black suits look a little funeral like to me. And you wouldn’t want him in a tux if the other guys are in suits.
