For your date sparklers are quite fitting.  There are always horror stories of sparklers but honestly lots of kids use them every year with no issue so adults can handle it I am sure.

FI’s cousin got married in the morning outside. As they were walking down the aisle (leaving) we shaked this wand she made. It was a wooden stick with ribbons and a bell. It was really nice. I wish i had a picture. She said it was very easy to make. I had one time seen the picture where they are walking down the aisle and the ribbon is all around them but I cant find it on Facebook anymore

Here’s a source for the wind up faux butterflies. You would have to wind them ahead of time and place them in envelopes so they fly when you want everyone to release them.

I would order one pack to try out ahead of time to see if I liked them.

What about small bells?  The guest could ring them as you are leaving the church.  It might not be much of a “visual” send off, but at least it would sound nice!

We are using earth friendly balloons for our september wedding, they are biodegradable, you could do a nice clean white or match your wedding colors,

I am still hunting for the best deal but I have found almost all laytex balloons are now safe,. this is a similar statement I have found on many sites… hope it helps

latex balloons are totally biodegradable — the only type of balloon used in a professionally-produced mass release. A latex balloon’s molecular structure begins breaking down with inflation and gathers momentum when exposed to sunlight and the atmosphere

I’m doing sparklers. If you don’t want sparklers, why not some fireworks? A few nice ones.

Thinking about it, everytime I have been downtown anywhere on 4th of July, there WERE fireworks. Why not save yourself some money and just do a champagne toast on the way out under someone else’s fireworks?
