Hello fellow bees,
I’ve been going crazy trying to come up with wedding colors that my fiance and I both like but also won’t clash with the busy carpet and decor of our ballroom. We’re getting married May 2012 and would like navy blue as our primary color. I would like a light color to brighten things up since it’s a spring wedding, but that’s where I’m having difficulty. I think light blue clashes with the forest green/maroon carpets but that’s our favorite combination. I love navy and blush but my fiance hates pink. He wasn’t too fond of navy and green either. I’m also considering navy and light purple. What color combo do you think works with the space? Once the room has all the tables in place and decorated with white table clothes and white chair covers, will color combos even be an issue?
Help!

We’re using navy blue as well, but with ivory (for a fall wedding). I’ve noticed that I’m really attracted to the light pink/blush as I’ve been planning. I think that would go well in your space too IF you can convince your Fiance. Maybe try to convince him it’s not bubblegum pink, but rather a more soft, muted pink.

Light blue would have definitely clashed wtih those chairs, but with white chair covers, I think it’ll be fine. And I think that any decor elements will be separated enough from the carpet with the white table linens and white chair covers that you won’t notice it clashing. So go with your favourite combo – navy and light blue!

Hi date twin!
I vote navy and champagne/ivory, even though that’s not an option. I’m not a fan of pinks and Fiance really doesn’t want pink… so I’m conditioned to avoid pink. 🙂

If you are planning on white linens and chair covers, you do not have to consider the carpet.
The reality is all these colors go together. Have you ever gone into a flower garden and said “Wow! These flowers don’t go together”?
I happen to prefer the navy and light purple but that’s only a personal preference.

Don’t pick one yet! We chose a color even though I didn’t LOVE it, it was the only one we could agree on (Red). Through planning, I found colors just naturally emerged. We planned on Red with some hints of mossy green, but in the end I was really drawn to chocolates, spring greens and bright red.
Since you’re having white linens, it really is a blank canvas! I love navy By The Way, so classic! Have you considered navy with a light grey, or even steel grey? Then add pops of lilac?

I vote for ivory with a few hints of a soft crisp green (not mint!)
I like the board SoontobeMrsA posted.
