I would include the veggie option on all the RSVPs. Some people may prefer it even if they are not exclusively vegetarian. What’s the extra cost if you get more than 6? Would you be able to afford it?

Ditto with TaraMay. If you know the six people, perhaps you can reach out to them via phone and such?

I’m a vegan, and I usually don’t ever see a vegetarian option listed.  I think it’s expected that we (meaning people with special dietary needs, including vegetarian) call the bride and/or caterer and work it out ahead of time.  The problem with that is that sometimes people don’t know they can/should do that, or people assume it will be a buffet and that they can find something, or someone brings a date with a special dietary need that they don’t think to tell you ahead of time.

So, putting it on the card would be a safer idea.  Or, you can hope everyone contacts you.  Maybe include something about the vegetarian option on your website, or indicate if it’s buffet or plated.  It’s a good idea to have a few “extra” veg meals on hand, beause there will be some people who end up saying, “oh, I don’t eat red meat,” etc., and didn’t think to tell you before.

It is very odd that the caterer has a maximum number of veggie meals.  I’ve never heard of that before. Maybe if you give them an idea of the number beforehand they’ll be willing to move that.

On the bottom of my rsvp’s I wrote email me: Listed my email for any dietary restrictions.

I had a 2 sided rsvp. Our meal options are fish, prime rib, and a chicken dish. On the back  of the rsvp I also wrote vegeterian and kids options are also avaliable. I can show you what our rsvp looks like if you want to see?

Give the choice with the others on the RSVP. There might be others that you don’t know about that are vegetarian. I knew of 2 possibly 3 and we ended up getting 8 that chose it. Put it on there to be safe.

summerbee15:  I am in the same situation as you are with only a 5% vegetarian option (my choice i don’t want to pay another $4 a person to have a full third meal optionn. However, i don’t know of any vegetarians on my guest list so i’m assuming the 5% will be plenty. I just listed out two meal choices and ask that any one with and dietary concerns to please contact the bride.
