Hello! I am getting married this August in South Lake Tahoe, and I need help with my timeline. My wedding starts at 5 PM and we have to end by 9 PM.
Here are the basics, any help organizng my thoughts is appreciated.
Ceremony is short – approx 20 mins We are having a cocktail time during which we will take photos We are having a buffet dinner (40 guests) Only “special” dances are first dance and father daughter dance. We would like to have a welcome speech by by dad, and a thank you from us (both brief) We are having a cake cutting, but with cupcakes, so should not need time for serving dessert.
So, my basic idea is: 5-5:30 PM Ceremony 5:30 – 6:15 Cocktails (and photos) 6:20 – Guests seated for dinner 6:30 – Bridal party arrives/announced 6:35 – First Dance 6:40 – Welcome Speech by Dad 6:45 – Dinner Buffet Opens 7:30 – Cake cutting 7:35 – Father Daughter Dance 7:40 – Dance floor opens 8:45 PM – Thank you to guests 9:00 PM – Last Dance Does this seem weird? Smushed? I am making myself nuts, so any help is appeciated.

It does seem smushed but all the necessary elements are there. However, i do think it’s doable. Just need to keep to your timeline. Have Maid/Matron of Honor help with that.

It’s going to be tight, but I think you will be alright. Can you start your ceremony 15 minutes earlier? That may help a little bit.

My wedding/reception is the exact same! We only have 4 hrs total for this as well. What you can do is take some pics before the wedding. You dont have to do a first look if you dont want to (I’m not!) but two hrs before the wedding I would suggest the photog getting some shots of you alone and with your bridal party and your parents. Then an hr before the ceremony get the groom and groomsmen and his parents pics. Then the ceremony starts at 5 and lasts for 20 mins like you say. Really evaluate your must-have photos since your time is so short. During our cocktail hr, the only pics we are getting is with me and Fiance. I say if you can, cut the cocktail hr a bit. Mine is only going to be 30 mins. Then start the reception. Other than that it seems doable.
