I know, I love the “last name” thing. They’re common so people know how to say/spell them but not overly used as first names. I like Hudson, Harrison, Gentry, Brooks, Bently, Bennett… but to him since they’re more commonly heard last names he thinks they sound weird as first names… ugh…

What about Waylon? Like Waylon Jennings. You could use Ryder and he could be RJ when he got older.

I can think of whole bunch of old fashioned “manly” names but that middle name is hard…You could have the first name be Joseph perhaps? Just a thought… I am not into those trendy names either…. so I know how you feel. I think you should stay away from costume names that come off as obviously country, but sound tough and respectable…
William Joseph (This one sounds better to me)
or you can throw out Joseph all together and go with Tim Hudson

Not really looking for old fashion names. And I can’t use Joseph as a first name because Jo/Joey ryhmes with our last name 🙂

oh gosh, that makes it even more difficult lol. Boy names are tough…Gaven or Wyatt perhaps?
If you like Hudson… I think your husband needs to compromise. Let him pick the next one! lol

He said if I let him pick this time I can pick whatever I want next time, boy or girl. I was like, “just let me pick Hudson now becuase that’s what I’m picking next time anyway!” lol

So…. Hudson was ranked #74 on most popular names for 2012 and Wyatt was #41. Just wanted to throw that in there… Not too common or uncommon.

Just told my husband Hudson was #74 🙂 He thinks it’s not a first name. I don’t care for Wyatt, just doesn’t sound very modern to me.

That is so crazy to see you put Holt on your list! That’s what I’m naming my son (due in APril). It’s after my Father-In-Law, but I haven’t seen it much anywhere else!

I just looked in my copy of the Baby Name Wizard for sibling names for Hudson, since that’s your front-runner. It suggested you might like:
Ryder (I saw you mention this before, although it was a no go.)
Since you also liked Ryder but ruled it out, I checked that name too:
There’s whole sections in the book on Place Names (like Hudson), Country and Western Names, and Macho Man Names (which Ryder falls under). Let me know if you want me to post some from a section! 🙂

Thank you! My tops picks were/are Husdon, Weston, Gentry, Camden (ruled out since I think people would assume you’re saying Cameron and spell it wrong), Holden, and Grayson. He likes Nolan, Lane, and Colton. Being from Texas I think people will think he’s named after Nolan Ryan, Lane is ok but I like it better as a MN, and I’m just not crazy about Colton. Weston is the only one we both like, but neither of us love
