Since we eloped I wanted to add some of the details of the day in our announcement, but I’m not sure how I should be telling this story. The announcements are from us, but using we only gets me so far, here is where I am stuck
“After the lake we went into the Museum and learned about tea. This is where we were when it started pouring rain. We stood under the overhang and waited for the rain to stop, but we ran out of time and had to make make our way to the registry in the downpour…”
I want to add to the end that I had to use his shirt as an umbrella, but is there a way to word that to not make it obvious that I am the one writing the announcements?
Should I just use our first names…something like “Bob was kind enough to let Jane use his shirt as an umbrella to protect her hair and make-up…”
Is that proper? It feels like I am changing to third person when I shouldn’t… Or do I need to just give up and go with “Bob let me use his shirt as an umbrella”
