First off, I am so, so sorry your dress got butchered like that.

Secondly, do you have anything in writing from them or was all the communication in person/on the phone?

So sorry – I knew this wasn’t going to end well when I saw the back all pinned up.  How did you pay for the gown – can you do a credit card reversal?  I would also look into the Better Business Bureau for help – sometimes just getting them involved will make a retailer wise up.

Aww, I’m really sorry they did a bad job with alterations–especially when you hadn’t even asked for any in the first place!

If it were me, I’d probably just cut ties with this place, obviously not pay them for the alterations, and find someone else who can make it look better.  You looked so gorgeous in your dress before, I’m sure if you get the right person to fix it you’ll look amazing for your wedding.

Have you brought it to antoher seamstress to see if what they did can be undone?  I would then let them know that you would like them to pay for the work that needs to be done to correct their work.

If they wont you will be sure to write reviews on yelp as well as notify the BBB.

I would find a seamstress on your island and take it to them.  Hopefully the alterations were sewn but nothing cut and someone can just rip out the alteration seams and get the dress back to ‘original’ before trying the alterations again.  The good thing is there is still plenty of time until September.

Good luck! I can only imagine your frustruation.

My suggestion is to contact the Better Business Bureau and start a claim.  Then, take the dress to the most highly recommended seamstress you can find and see what can be done to fix this.  I believe it’s fixable.  I’m SO sorry this happened to you, and I wish you a lot of luck!

I am so sorry that happened!  That is definitely wrong on their part… However, it doens’t look like it is completely ruined… I would say take it to another seamstress and see if they can alter/save it to be what you are envisioning.  From the pictures is doesn’t look like it is completely ruined…

Good luck!!  And definitely keep us posted on how everything turns out!

Oh nooooo they didn’t! What kind of seamstress would do this?! I’m trying to figure out what kind of body shape is supposed to fit into that? It would almost be comical if it wasn’t the remains of your once beautiful gown!

I feel your pain because a similar thing happened to my first dress. I literally lost sleep over it. Mine couldn’t be repaired, but I hope a competent seamstress can undo the damage on yours. The dress was really beautiful on you before it got butchered!

@mrsmdphd: ditto!

I’m so sorry you have to go through the stress of this, but I think it can be fixed and work out. Best of luck and keep us updated!
