I’m so sorry you’re stressed. Home buying is seriously hard!!! I don’t have any advice, I’ve never been in that situation. Seems weird that the bank needs to talk to your previous landlord… Seems like they should only be concerned with pure financial stuff. Maybe they’re just going to ask if you were ever late paying rent?? Either way, I’m sure it’s going to be fine. Deep breaths πŸ™‚ good luck!!

@moderndaisy: Oh girl!  I am so sorry to hear you are going through this!  I was stressed beyond belief trying to rent in this city, so this must be 1000 times as crazy!  The coop board approval is HUGE though, and could even be a way to help convince the bank if they come back with the wrong answer.   I will be praying that they are not that stupid though!

*Good housing dust sent your way*

i’m sorry it’s so stressful! just renting an apartment in nyc almost gave me a heart attack, I’m sure buying is just that much worse! I don’t know anyone looking for an apt now, but I’ll let you know if I hear anything πŸ™‚

@moderndaisy: you could also post to the Columbia off-campus housing registry (http://facilities.columbia.edu/housing/list-available-housing-0 ) it’s less sketchy than craig’s list since you have to be affiliated with the university to see the listings. it could be a good time now too since it’s almost winter break and new students or staff might be moving to nyc for the winter semester
