How extreme of a mermaid do you want?

Maggie Sottero has a few. Camille is heavily beaded and is really pretty with cap sleeves. Jim Hjelm does lots of trumpet dresses….depends on what your budget is! They’re definitely out there.

Casablanca 1872 is an asymmetrical trumpet that’s got a lot of design on it.

I saw another post on here before where a girl was saying she had her a-line altered into more of a trumpet style.  Would that be an option for you if you found an a-line that had the right beading?  You could always speak with the person doing the alterations and see if they are able to do that.

I bought the Maggie Sottero Milana for my wedding.  It is a mermaid dress with beading on it but  not too overboard.  I got it in champagne with light gold accent and I love it.  I am getting married in October so I can’t wait to wear it. Oh and the dress comes with beaded cap sleeves but you can just snap them off and you’ve got a strapless dress which is how I am wearing it.  Here is a link to one of my post of me in my dress, scroll down halfway down page and you will see me!

Good Luck!

What about a slim A-line with a dropped waist? It has the same effect but can be more flattering on shorter women. Something to think about! =]

I have an absolutely gorgeous Christina Wu (In-Stock) gown, that I originally saw in a magazine and was lucky enough to find it in a bridal shop. it is form fitting with beautiful beading and lace throughout.

It is a form fitting sheath with a beaded schiffli lace/english net overlay with scalloped edges, and a chapel length train. It has spaghetti straps that could easily be removed to make the dress strapless. I had this dress made into a corset style back directly from Christina Wu. The dress is a size 12- but I normally wear between a size 6-8. With the corseted style back I needed no alterations. The dress does not have any tears or snugs…it is still in excellent condition. I only wore it once at my wedding, then had it dry-cleaned and by professional cleaners.

I am willing to include the veil also with the price. This dress does not deserve to sit in my spare bedroom closet – it deserves to be shown off by the beautiful bride.

email me at [email protected] if you are interested

Hey, I don’t know if you are still looking for trumpet/mermaid style dresses, but I know you said that you loved the one Sarah from Kleinfeld’s ended up going with–I am 99% positive that was Pnina Tornai dress.  Try this link:  http://www.kleinfeldbridal.com/index.cfm?pid=52&item_id=11937&rowid=6&page=1  Sorry I didn’t see this post earlier…hope this is the dress you were talking about!  I loved the dress Sarah chose, too.

look up lazaro, he is AMAZING!!! he does a lot of trumpet/mermaid and his signature is detail, which is what i was looking for. he is known for his hand-done embroidery and use of stoning( rhinestones, swarovski crystals, freshwater pearls, etc) and lace. when i first looked at his gowns and then looked at other designers, there was no going back!

his new fall line is not online yet but ive seen it in person and tried on some of them and let me tell you, FABULOUS!! definitely look him up, you will not be disappointed!

have you thought about asking on the kleinfeld blog?  and or going to kleinfelds to try it on?  i am sure once you find it/try it on you can look for it elsewhere for cheaper.  but if you really do like it and try bargaining with them they usually do a 10-12% discount.
