Does anybody have any ideas of how I can keep my outdoor wedding and ceremony bug-free? My main worry is the mosquitos! I live in northern Louisiana and am getting married in early May 2013 in the late evening time. The wedding is going to have a very vintage/country feel to it so I’m not really digging the idea of tiki torches! Any other ideas would be wonderful!!

I use the outdoor mosquito fogger at home when I’m having a party and it normally keeps them away for about 4 hours.

I recently discovered something really random that works for mosquitos. My house is in a field, next to woods, and has a large, stagnant pond, AKA mosquito heaven! I found if you keep a dryer sheet in your pocket they don’t touch you. It’s really weird, but I haven’t found anything that works better. I’m not sure how you go about giving each of your guests one though lol

I’m totally seconding the dryer sheet! My Darling Husband is from New Orleans and we’re moving back there next week. His Mimi sticks dryer sheets out on her deck and so it smells great and keeps the bugs away. I tend to put one in my pocket (or maybe in the band around your undergarments) and that works well, too!
Could you maybe hide a few around your venue?

OFF has mini fans that clip on to various things and run by battery. I swear by them in the mountains and carry them on my backpack when I hike with full success.
They don’t have any odor and very little sound. Worth a shot.

We will be fogging the grass but we will also be spraying the grass with Listroene before the ceremony.

That is so odd! I will definitely be trying the dryer sheets!! Thank y’all so much! 🙂

@OohShiny: I’m so glad someone else has heard of this! I thought it was the strangest thing, but it definitely works for us!
