Hahah I don’t know…. you’d have to be pretty ill to justify a whole WEEK off of work. Will your sick time roll over to next year?

@KellyLouise:  I’m lucky- I have a close enough relationship to my doctor that she would probably just write me the note!

@KellyLouise:  I did that once! I claimed I fell down some stairs, I was fake limping and he gave me the week off work woohoo! but mind you it was a pretty dodgy medical centre haha. PS I am a terrible liar too, but I managed to do it so you can too!

Ugh, this touches a nerve. I see the ramifications of this often in my professional life on coworkers and business productivity.

Sick leave is not an entitlement, other then when you are genuinely unwell. Since you have accumulated 30 days, I am assuming that you have been in your current place of work for more than 3 years, therefore don’t you owe them a little bit more loyalty than this? They have obviously been good to you in working around your annual leave for the honeymoon and wedding.

I have seen instances where employees have been terminated when caught out doing something social during their “sick leave” which proves they would have been fit for work, regardless of the medical certificate. Please reconsider!

I don’t have any ideas for you (I have a hard time taking time off when I really am sick, all my years of casual work catching up on me), but as soon as I saw the thread title, I thought AUSSIE!!!
