Hey there! I am getting married outdoors in a very open space. There are no trees or anything around to hang lights on, and its an evening wedding/reception. Any ideas on how to do the lighting would REALLY help me out!!!

@edickey79: I think battery powered chinese lanterns spread around the ground would look neat! Or look up LED Throwies… you could make tons of them and spread them around…. as well as tiki torches. Is there any way you can reach extension cords out and surround the area or some type of lattice with white Christmas lights?

I love the Tiki Torch idea! Another would be luminaries, i dont know how much light it would give off but paired with candles on the tables they would look lovely and romantic.
We used candelabras as centerpieces that were really beautiful.
String lights are also really beautiful and you can just put wooden posts in the ground if needed

Some bees went nuts over Mrs. Sea Shell’s DIY lighting using Acolyte’s LED lights (battery operated). They are meant for walls, but I don’t see how they can’t be used outdoors.
I bought 6 myself

You didn’t say if you have any access to electricity. If not, you can use battery operated or solar lights.
You can also rig something up so that you can hang lights. You can get patio umbrella bases, insert a tall pipe or pole, and string lights between them.
If you need to keep the bases out of the way, you can use a cantilevered umbrella stand
You can also stand a post of some sort upright in a barrel, fill it with rocks or sand and string lights form the top.
You can also get really tall shepherd’s hooks, or use shorter ones with battery operated lamps , mason jars or candle lamps hanging on them.

Does anyone know where to get Shepherd hooks??? I can’t seem to find them anywhere but KMart at $12.00 each!
