When my SIL got married my 2 boys aged 9&11 gave out the programs and then handed everyone rose petals to throw.
They loved having a job to do and they didn’t it wonderfully:)

6 would still be a young enough ring bearer.
is your father going to give you away? otherwise could the two older boys give you away?
or could you do an junior groomsmen/bridesmaid duos?
there’s also ushers or readings…
do they all want to be part of it? a boy at 12 i feel like might be in an awkward transition where they might get embarrassed easily and think they will mess up or something and be afraid of that. could just be me but i was a young bridesmaid and i was paranoid!!

We’re having my FBIL’s children in the wedding, 2 boys and a girl. The youngest will be 7, and he is a ring bearer. The next youngest will be 9 and she’s the princessy type, so she’ll be a flower girl. The oldest will be 12, so he’ll be helping by passing out programs. I’m not a fan of children and weddings in general, so we’re limited disaster possibilities. The real rings will be held by the best man, so in case of meltdown from the youngest, it’s no big deal if he doesn’t walk. I’ll have petals scattered down the runner beforehand, so if the flower girl has a meltdown, we’re still ok. And if the oldest wanders off/gets bored, there will be a place to put the programs. It’s easiest to give them a small job that seems important to them, and have a backup plan if they flake out.

@HisNightOwl2014: have the older 2 be groomsmen.
OR ask them what job they want.
I have 3 kids. all girls, 10,8,2(at wedding) and they are jr bridesmaid, and 2 flower girls (8 year old choice)

The oldest one could light one of the unity candles, if you guys are altright with that.
Handing out programs, I spy cards, etc.
One of them doing a reading
gps2b-I agree with you on the small jobs and a backup plan
