If it were me, I’d rather head to the restaurant than hang around the ceremony space for almost an hour. Are you providing alcohol at the dinner? Is it possible to start your bar at 5 or 5:15 (basically have a cocktail hour)?

Even if there were no hosted bar in the hour before dinner, as a guest I’d probably head to the restaurant, get a seat in the bar and buy a drink for myself and chill until dinner.

<p>Whether it is at the ceremony site, or at the restaurant, I think your guests would appreciate a beverage- could be lemonade, iced tea, punch etc- doesn`t have to be alcoholic, and a light snack.

kimber085:  Oh I see, and the water taxi sounds like a fun idea. In that case I’d agree with having some kind of soft drink available after the ceremony and maybe something like a cheese plate as you suggested. Around that time of the evening, people might be starting to feel hungry, and if they need to stay to wait for the transportation it’s appropriate to have a little snack for them. Plus if your guest count is low, it shouldn’t cost you much at all to offer that. 🙂
