Have you tried Kings Hawaiian.. They are really reasonable and the cake tastes great.. I think they can do buttercream…

King’s Hawaiian is a great option–the only reason we didn’t use them is that we found a place closer to our venue that worked with our caterer. Porto’s gets great recommendations, too.

We used Cake Sensations in South Pasadena and were very happy with looks, taste, and price but perhaps that’s farther away than you want to look. She does buttercream, though.

We used Hansen’s on Fairfax.  They are a landmark bakery in Los Angeles and their cake tastes amazing!  We chose the simplest/cheapest design and it was $3/per slice so it should fit into your budget.  I highly recommend them!

We are using Susie Cakes (there’s one in Calabassas and 3 more locations closer to the beaches).  Enough sheet cake + our own personal cake to cut was just over $300 and their cake is pretty darn tasty!!

Good luck!
