I am really torn! First of all, my ring is going to come from moissaniteco.com & they have soo many solitaires to choose from, let alone I am confused about band AND stone size. I have no idea!! I do like the bigger stone look, and size it’s affordable, why not! I have been staring at these two rings for MONTHS wishing I could have something remotely close…and then I stumpled upon moissanite! It really is a dream come true 🙂
Anyway, I wear a 5.5, which is pretty average but my fingers are short…so they look small. I want the ring to be big enough that I won’t regret not getting a big size, but not too big so people obviously know that it’s fake (bc a diamond version would prob cost 30-40k). I’m torn between 2-2.5 carat (8-8.5mm). Suggestions???
Oh, these are the two rings I’m struggling with:

If you’re trying to pass it as a diamond I would go with thesmaller size.

This post calls for a poll.
I wear the same size as you and also have short fingers although I’m tall for a chick. I wouldn’t go over 2 ct because I think it looks huge on my size hand.
Edit: I like the first one the best.

I like the second one better. I agree that if you are trying to pass it off then go for a size your FI/you could afford

Personally, I’m a fan of the first. If you’re trying to avoid making people think it’s fake, I’d opt for a smaller size. No matter what you decide to do with the choice, people aren’t going to look at your ring and say, “Man, it would have looked better as a 2.5ct instead of 2ct.” They’re going to say, “OMG HUGE RING OMG OMG” or something of that nature.

Ok I have a poll.
Thanks for the suggestions so far! 🙂

I think you have my life. I’ve got those 2 pics in my albumn as well! And I’m trying to decide between the moissy 6 prong, and the knife edge tiffany style. But I’m trying to decide between 1.25 and 1.5 ct because I don’t want too many “questions.”
I’d go with the 2. My mom has a 2.5 diamond and that sucker is HUGE. Plus keep in mind, both of those rings stick up off your hand quite a bit. And brilliant rounds face up bigger so they look larger anyway.

EVEN A 2 CT IS TOO LARGE.. UNLESS UR FIANCE CAN AFFORD A 30,000 DIAMOND. THEN GET A 1-1.5 CT.. U WONT BE KIDDING ANYONE 🙁
congrats on your engagement.

@tfm: lol why are you yelling? You can buy a 2 ct diamond for waaaaay less than 30k, just depends what C of the 4 is most important to you. Or, the OP or her fiance may have inherited a large stone.
OP have you tried on 2 & 2.5 ct diamonds in stores? Or ordered a couple CZ rings to try out? I found that really helpful. Also has your Fiance looked at the different sizes on your hand?
Ether way both sizes are large, so get which you like! You will also get used to whichever you get pretty quickly. Rest assured you’ll have absolutely no problem passing the moissy off as a diamond, if that is what you want to do.
I have the same size ring as you, and we went with a 1.25 ct (anything bigger than 1.5 just doesn’t look as pretty on my finger imo). So for ME I’d go smaller, thus I didn’t vote.
