Hi all. Fiance and I want to get our parents something special to say thank you for helping us with our wedding. Both side have contributed some money and helped with the planning. I feel like all the typical gifts are not good enough. Both of our older siblings are married and gave the parents frames and wine and gadgets, etc. Any outside the box ideas for parents who have everything??? Thanks for your fabulous ideas!

I think it’s best to buy something you’d buy for any other occassion, not necessarily something wedding related. What would you get them for Christmas or an anniversary gift?
For her wedding, my cousin got her mom some awesome candle sticks that were Mexican pottery. Pretty cream doves with gold designs on them. It was very “her mom” and she kept them on her table every single day from then on. It had nothing to do with the wedding, really, but was something she knew her mom would enjoy. If my mom was alive I’d probably get her some kind of artwork or jewlery. Dad is more sentimental/traditional, so I’ll be doing the classic framed picture of us thing.

Can you give them an experience rather than a thing? Perhaps go wine tasting or skydiving or hot air ballooning?

Everdeen: +1. I think an experience would be great. Something you can all do together would be fun, you should check out Living Social and Groupon for local ideas 🙂

Missknicole: Everdeen: Awesome idea! There is a winery very close to where our wedding is taking place… that could be very fun! I’ll keep an eye on Groupon too!

I’m thinking about getting seeds, bulbs, or potted plants of my wedding flowers and giving them to my mother and Future Mother-In-Law.

I would like to do an engraved leatherman for my Future Father-In-Law and my Dad.
