Sandals resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica for only +$3000 during xmas week

another all-inclusive resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica for less than $300 xmas week

Hawaii, but it is overpriced...could be over $5000 if wanting to stay in a nicer hotel/car rental,

    Mexico....for a cheaper, more all-inclusive option (between +$2-3000

somewhere else in Caribbean...suggest place below.

Tahiti......worth the +$4-5000(what I would be paying for Hawaii)

If you are going for Jamaica don’t limit yourself to Ocho Rios. Negril is lovely, as are Montego Bay and Port Antonio. You should also look into the Couples Resorts as opposed to Sandals. They tend to be less touristy and have more character in my opnion. They are also all inclusive.

Ocho Rios can be a tourist trap, especially in the context of a cruise ship stop over. But that would not be a likely honeymoon experience as you would be off at a resort and in a position to chose your outside activities. There are beautiful spots there, and fun things to do.

St. Lucia is also a breathtaking island!

At the end of the day though, a honeymoon is such a personal decision. Just depends on what kind of vacation you enjoy. For example, although I personally do not enjoy Sandals, it wouldn’t have the reputation it does if so many people didn’t love it!

Sorry, can’t comment on the other options…

I’ll check travelocity. For the Maya Riviera, what airport do you fly into? <

We flew into the Cancun airport, because it was closer to us… but you could also fly into the Cozumel airport, I believe.  The Cancun airport was SUPER easy!

I can’t speak for all the other places, cause I haven’t been to most of them, but I would say Riviera Maya has the kind of places you are looking for.  Our ocean was BEAUTIFUL! You could see straight down into the water.  In fact, there were a couple times you could see little schools of fishes swimming up.  The water was pretty warm.  I like almost HOT water (weird, right?), and it wasn’t quite that HOT, but you didn’t freeze getting into it.  It was very sunny.  In fact, you’ll want to be careful, cause it’ll be easy to burn, if you do burn. Our pool was beautiful (see the pictures I posted earlier in the thread).  There were many activities to choose from (on the beach or off site).  The resort was INCREDIBLY romantic.  We got a personal butler who would come into the room (upon my husbands request) and set up jacuzzis, candlelights, etc., etc.  Like I said, I haven’t been to most of the other places, but I would HIGHLY recommend Riviera Maya, Mexico.

@kfricke89: Not sure if you’ve made plans for swimming with the turtles yet, but if not… We went to Mexico (Riviera Maya area) and did a tour that included swimming with the turtles, and it was AMAZING.  They didn’t let us actually swim right next to the turtles (they were massive sea turtles), but it was really neat to see them, even from where we were.

Our tour included: Zip lining across a lake, canoeing in a lake, jumping off a cliff, snorkeling in a cave, snorkeling in a bat cave, lunch at a Mexican resturant (not included – meals were about 7-8 dollars a plate), snorkeling in the ocean (we saw sea turtles, stingrays, tons of fish, piranas, etc.), snorkeling in a lagoon with tropical fish.  We also bought the DVD ($30 extra) which included TONS of pictures of us throughout the day (the tour guide took them at every place we went).  The name of the tour was EDventure tours (Listed as #1 on Tripadvisor at the time of our trip).  They pick you up at your resort, and you will be gone for about 7-9 hours.  The price was very inexpensive, and we had lots of fun.  Just a thought in case you are looking for something like that! : )

Starry : If your biggest concerns are having a nice relaxing beach and not breaking the bank, you should check out the place in Mexico my brother & SIL went on their honeymoon..they live in Seattle so it was an easy commute down the west coast and cost them like $200/night for their own personal bungalow with open air shower, infinity pool, activities nearby, good food, and beachfront access. It’s near Puerto Vallarta so you fly in there and then I think get a cab. It doesn’t seem like the utmost in luxury like the all-inclusives, but if you ask me, you don’t really need that (what’s the difference anyway if someone brings you drinks or you go to the bar and get one yourself? Worth $700/night? 🙂 )
