I’m trying to decide on a bridesmaids dress that will flatter all of my girls. The girls range in size from 0 to 16. My maid of honor is super tiny (4′ 9”) and she is the one wearing the dresses in all of these pictures. I want the bridesmaids to wear black dresses. My dress is a mermaid/trumpet lace Casablanca gown with a modified sweetheart neckline. I love the white lace dress (it would be ordered in black satin with black lace overlay), but it’s more expensive ($220) than the three other dresses. My wedding is going to be very formal/black tie. So which one do you guys like the best?

SarahAnn1984: I really dislike the white lace dress. It’s not at all flattering to her figure, and if it doesn’t flatter her, chances are it won’t work for the size 16. One shoulder dresses are difficult at best, but that one has an exceptionally high neckline.
I would choose the black dress.

SarahAnn1984: I don’t like either of the one-shoulder dresses at all… especially if you’re looking for something universally flattering. And if your gown is lace, I don’t think you should go with a lace bridesmaid dress too – too much lace going on, and if the patterns don’t look right together it can throw off the whole look of the bridal party.
I really love both of the sweetheart dresses, maybe the first one a little bit more. Plus, a sweetheart neckline will help complement the modified sweetheart neckline of your own dress.

Thank you two so much for your input!
julies1949: You are right about the white dress. When I looked at it after what you said, I totally noticed how it isn’t so flattering.
lovelove1028: You made a really good point about the competing lace paterns! I didn’t even consider that. Thank you. I think I will let the girls pick between the top two dresses. The jewel on the top left dress is detachable, and I was thinking of getting a pretty emerald brooch to give the girls so they can pin it to the dress. Our wedding is kind if a vintage 50’s theme abd our colors are black & white with little pops of emerald green.

I really like the bottom left

SarahAnn1984: As a size 12 gal, I can tell you the white dress WILL NOT look good on anyone bigger than your tiny bridesmaid!
In the one next to the white one, it has a weird waistline – something that would look bad on a bigger girl!
I would vote for either of the top ones – the a-line waist will look good on everyone!

I love the navy one! I usually don’t like one shoulder dresses but I like how it’s just a sheer strap so it doesnt look off IMO but is it a little big on her or is that how the waist looks? Though im uncertain about the top I think the skirt is the most flattering. That or the second one on the top- I didn’t like the first one either, your maid is tiny but the fabric seems to create lines on her tummy.

weatherbug: I kind of thought that too about the bottom two dresses not being flattering on the other body types.
atreyu547: All of the dresses were super big on her. We have to pull them tight and try to imagine how they will fit in her size.

Top right does it for me most! I don’t like either of the one shoulder options … at all.

I like the bottom left. Have you asked your girls for their opinion? We can say what we like but I think it’s best for them to choose. When I was a size 16 I wouldVE NEVER worn anything strapless EVER.

The black dress, top right. The one shoulder dresses….meh. Not flattering.

I would go with the navy blue sheer one shoulder dress.

As a big (16-18 depending on which continent I’m on 😉 ) girl, I would want to wear (in order) #1, #2, #3. The first one is definitely the best, imo.
