I went to MAC tonight and had a makeup trial done and need opinions. Personally, I thought it photographed fine, but made me look INSANE in real life. The eyelashes were up to my eyebrows and the eye makeup was just too dark for a wedding, IMO. I said “fairly dramatic” and I guess I guess I should have said earth tones maybe, because she used a combo of light pink/gold/dark purple/black that looks, to me, way too dark. I bought a few products I thought I’d use and had her write down everything she used, but now I’m doubting whether I’ll go to MAC again on the wedding day to get it done… I might just get my mom and my friend who is good at makeup to help me with my eyes and do the rest myself.
Am I crazy or does this just look like TOO much?
In this picture it actually looks okay I guess, but then you can see just how heavy the eye makeup is here:

I think you are beautiful…but I think the really dark eyeliner and lashes are a little too much. I think your skin and lipstick looks awesome though!!

Thanks… I DID purchase the foundation and lip color, as I thought that was the only part of the face I liked as well. Those eyes… I just can’t see myself walking down the aisle at 5 pm in a chapel with that makeup.

First off, you are beautiful!
From far away the makeup looks great! But the more up close picture you can see that the lashes are OUT.OF.CONTROL! lol
I think if you did pinks/browns instead of purple/black it would look lighter and more “bridal”. but like pp said, the foundation and lips look great, although I would recommend a little bit more blush for pictures. 🙂

I would agree, the lips are great, but with the think eyeliner and long eyelashes it looks overdone…. you are naturally beautiful and would look better with less… 🙂 Just my opinion.

Overall, I think you look stunning! But I totally agree that you should tone down the eyes–they’re a bit much, and you don’t sound too comfortable walking down the aisle like that. You should feel like yourself on your wedding day!

Over all I think you look great. You are beautiful, but I do think your eyes are a little intense. They do photograph well, but if your not going to be comfortable with it I would go a little lighter on the eyeliner, and maybe have slightly shorter eyelashes added. I think you wont feel like “yourself” if stay with the colortones they did maybe browns intead.

I think the same style/attempt, but with earthier tones, such as bronzes and browns and soft beiges would be much more compelentary.

Agree with all the above posters. You are so beautifull. Overall look is nice but the lashes are a bit too much.

I agree, your foundation and lipstick look so pretty on you! You’re so pretty and have a pretty eye color, which the eye make-up is not showing 🙁

I think it’s just the eyelashes that are too much!

I think you look gorgeous, but I agree with the PP who said the eyelashes might just be too long–up close it’s obvious they aren’t real. I think overall the makeup itself isn’t so over-the-top, just lashes. The further-away picture looks beautiful, so maybe you could just try it with more natural looking lashes.

Thanks yall! I had to buy the lashes from the trial and I ripped them off as soon as I got in the car, so I should be able to use them again and I’ll just trim them WAY down to use them. One of my best friends who is coming to the wedding is bringing her MAC makeup and suggested the same thing a few of you did, which was to do the same technique but with earth tones. I was kind of surprised the MUA didn’t do that in the first place since my eyes are so blue and I’ve always been told browns/coppers complement that, but I’m just going to get my friend (she did her friend’s wedding makeup a few months ago) to do my eyes to look more natural and more like “me” but still dramatic enough for the wedding/pictures. And definitely more blush! I was planning on going to MAC the day of the wedding but now that I know how uncomfortable I felt after the trial, I think I’m just going to stickto having my mom and friend do it instead. Thanks for all your input; I just needed to make sure I wasn’t initially shocked by how much it was and that it really was just a little TOO TOO.
