I made 200-something of these Martha Stewart coffee filter roses and a friend and I dyed them this weekend. Now I’m trying to decide whether to fluff and curl all the petals so they are shaped like roses, or simply fluff them out and leave them.
Curling each petal takes a lot more time, but I’m willing to commit after coming this far in the project.
Fluffed and curled:

I think it depends on the look you’re going for. I like both really, but the curled look more realistic and romantic and the uncurled look more fun and flirty. Especially with the colors you’ve chosen I think you could get away with either.
I personally like the curled version better, but arranged the right way I think both could rock.

I think the fluffed ones look softer.

I was also thinking a nice mix of both. The first look so realistic!

I actually think you should try mixing the two kinds. The curled version looks like a rose in full bloom, but the fluffed one looks like one at a different stage of blooming or different variety of flower!

I second the idea to do a mix. I would probably do 2/3 curled and 1/3 fluffed, if I were you. 🙂

Thanks, everyone! I will do some more experimenting.

This looks sooo real. Go with the fluff and curled.

I’m another vote for mixed, but I also wanted to say those vases are so cute! 🙂

I just want to say that these look AMAZING! I love them!

@jo.lee: Thanks! They are just cheapo thrift store vases mod podged with book pages.

I like the idea of mixing the fluffed and non-fluffed flowers.
They look really really good. I love the vases. You should be proud of yourself. 🙂

I vote for both as well–either way you go, they look great! Which might be an argument for not curling them actually, because think off all the free time you would have 🙂 And your vases look awesome!
