My husband and I had a queen bed shaped about the same way.  We loved it.  It does take up extra room though since it slopes back and forward.  I think we figured for our queen bed it took up about an extra 6 inches.

I had a Queen bed exactly like that! It does take up the extra room and drove me nuts because I need things to be right up to the wall. Just somthing to keep in mind. If your not nutty like me and wont mind go for it!

We have a similarly styled bed. I love it, very classy looking.

The reality of a sleigh bed is that if you want a bed with the “sleigh” profile throughout the entire surface area of the headboard and the footboard, it needs to be built with the use of veneers for a variety of reasons.  Solid wood would need to be shaped or formed with a bend which would be difficult and expensive. Large solid wood panels will expand and contract relative to the humidity levels in the air.  A solid wood panel the size of a headboard without a frame or bracing to support it would potentially crack and or lose it’s shape.  So headboards that need to bend need to be made with hardwood veneers.  We can however offer a solid wood sleigh bed where the profile is accomplished with a frame as pictured below.  The inside panel can also be solid wood but it would be flat.  But, it still looks great!  So, this is our best approach to offering a solid wood sleigh bed that looks smooth and sleek!

I think a sleigh bed is pretty classic.  I think this is a great choice of something that could be modern but also could be very traditional.
