Just chiming in to suggest Craigslist. When I find stray furbabies, I always post to FB, Craigslist lost and found, and call my non-emergency police station. I also call local SPCAs to see if anyone is searching for their pet.

I try not to get animal officers involved, because in my area, they make the owner pay a $100 “penalty” to get their pet back. When dogs get out, it is usually not the owner’s fault, so I don’t agree with fining owners. It’s like adding stress to an already traumatic situation.

I will keep you in my thoughts–it sounds like you’re utilizing all of your possible resources. Best of luck finding your doggy! What a sweet face he has!

Also, ask your animal control/shelter intake if you can physically look at the dogs that have come in within the last 48 hrs.  They DO post lost notices, but sometimes they get overlooked.  Sometimes the pet just doesn’t look like the one in the picture to the person on intake that day.  It’s not done out of meanness or not caring, it’s just that they get SO many lost notices, and they can blur together after a while.  They usually get a note that looks something like: Lost – black & rust MN, corgi/rott X, ~40lbs.  So it’s easy to slip through the cracks.

@Omgbunnies:  I’m sorry! Where in New England are you? I’m In southern New Husband, I would help! Definitely keep up with CL, I always cruise  the pet section of that. Also, the Manchester Animal Shelter has a FB page and they always post missing animal ads for people, log on and email them, I know a lot of my friends repost thier stuff too just to get the word out. And some police dept’s have FB pages and do the same. On a better note, at least the lakes and rivers are no longer frozen so you don’t have to worry about him falling through any ice. Good luck, I’m sure someone will find him!!!

@Omgbunnies:  Any updates?  Was just reading a story about a runaway foster dog in NJ who was lured back home by the smell of grilling bacon…the foster parents were vegans but they figured it couldn’t hurt to try, and it worked!
