Are you absolutely positive about your ovulation date?  Did you confirm by temping?

Dates didn’t add up for me either, and I ended up having a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks. (Not trying to be a Debbie downer, but it’s always good to be prepared for all outcomes).

alarm bells first went when I was dated at 5 weeks 3 days when I should have been 6 weeks 5 days. But the tech could see a feint heart beat (which was quite early to see it) so I knew it was there and alive.

I had some spotting, and so had another scan at what should have been 10 weeks. The baby measured at 7 weeks with no heartbeat. This was a Thursday and I was scheduled in for a final scan followed by a D&C the next Monday. I miscarried naturally on the Saturday.

On another (happier) note, a friends dates and measurements weren’t adding up either. She had multiple early scans because she was extreamly sick and was admitted to hospital several times.

at her 12 week scan a different tech realised the reason nothing was adding up was because she was actually carrying twins! Not sure how at her 2 prior scans this was missed both times, but it meant all of the off measurements etc made sense at least.

fingers crossed for you bee.

Positive story here…my timeline went like this

Last period- 6/6

Estimated Ovulation- 6/20

First Faint Positive- 7/2 (12DPO)

When I went for my first ultrasound I should have been 7w3d something around there. But I ended up measuring 6w1d. Which would have meant I got a positive at 3DPO?? It didn’t add up but he’s 10 months old now

* edit because I mathed wrong 🙃

I think it’s possible you ovulated later than you thought and aren’t as far along as you think.  You said she didn’t apply enough pressure…did they do a transvaginal or abdominal ultrasound.  I can tell you my OB only dues transvaginal until 12 weeks.

I’m really hoping I’m wrong, but it sounds very similar to what happened to me. I also had a blazing positive but no baby seen at the 12 week scan. Just a blob around 6 week size. In my case I knew it was impossible that I got my dates that wrong, as I’d have had to have got a positive pregnancy test before I was pregnant! I miscarried a week later.

Wishing you all the best x

Ah…I see.  Well…my uterus is slightly tiled and the transvaginal did hurt for me so you might be on to something.  I just thought it hurt for everyone.   I never realized it could interfere with dating.

You can have a tilted or retroverted uterus and still be easy to scan transvaginally without a lot of pressure needed. The picture is very clear and close to the camera so the measurement was likely accurate. What that means for you I can’t say. Either dates are off or unfortunately it’s not a viable pregnancy. The only way to know for sure is time. I always advise 2 weeks between scans. We can give you real concrete answers with that much time between scans. Anything less and we’ll probably have to scan you twice anyways.

This is quite possible. I had my period on 9/14 and when my period didn’t come in Oct, I waited for a week and tested on Oct 22. It was a super strong positive. I have never tracked my ovulation date, but I always had periods like clockwork (30 days). It was our first cycle of unprotected sex, and I really was not in a hurry to get pregnant, therefore never looked into when I ovulate. I went for a doctor’s appt on 11/14 thinking I was 8W4D and I ended up being 6W6D. However, we did see a baby and heard the heartbeat. So it looks like I ovulated very late in that cycle, not sure if that is the case with every cycle that I have. I am guessing that is what happened in your case too. Maybe wait a couple of weeks and go back to the doc. Good luck!

Also wanted to add that I am talking about the dates being off. I do not have any experience with tilted uterus or seeing just a sac for either of my pregnancies, but in both cases I went to the doctor after 6.5 weeks. Wishing you a sticky baby!
