- Wedding: November 2012
I’m new to Greenville, SC and need a rehearsal dinner venue to host 14 adults and 4 kids under 12 years old. I’m working with a tight budget. I thought about hosting it at my house, but I don’t want to deal with the mess and not having a definite end time, cleaning up, etc. on the eve of my wedding. What if it’s 11pm and people are still there and I want to get to bed but can’t? So the options of ordering pizzas or having it catered aren’t top on my list for those reasons. My house is also out of the way and would require my guests driving about 45 additional minutes at the end of what will already be a very long day for them.
Are there good restaurant options in the Greenville area that aren’t crazy expensive? I want a place that is affordable, comfortable, and has good food!
Question: Are we obligated to pay for our guests alcohol beverages if they order them at dinner? I need to be able to politely control the bill so that I can budget. I know restaurants can sometimes create a menu for large groups to order from at a set rate, but how do you politely explain to your guests that if they order wine or beer or whatever that they would have to pay for that? Or does the host just pay for whatever is ordered?
